NYFE Summary

The sanctuary was designed without interior columns blocking the congregation's view. Its ark takes the form of an open Torah scroll. Above it, Hildreth Meière's mosaic arch rises toward the gilded ceiling. The stained-glass windows include images of historic European synagogues, connecting this New York congregation with earlier Jewish communities.

The temple's Bernard Museum of Judaica holds objects used in Jewish worship and home life. Its collection reaches back to the medieval period. Exhibitions explain these objects and the traditions behind them. Museum visits and sanctuary tours have separate arrangements.
