NYFE Summary

John A. Noble made paintings, drawings and lithographs in a floating studio built from salvaged ship parts. The museum preserves that studio as it looked in 1954. Its windows and fittings came from ferries, schooners and other vessels that once worked around New York Harbor.

The studio sits alongside maritime art and ship models. Other permanent exhibitions examine the retired sailors who lived at Snug Harbor and the history of Robbins Reef Lighthouse. Together they follow life on the water and the people who worked along its edges.
