NYFE Summary

This hotel succeeded the original Waldorf-Astoria on Fifth Avenue. Its ballrooms became settings for public gatherings as well as private celebrations. IBM introduced its personal computer at a press conference in the Grand Ballroom in 1981.

The twin towers rise above a broad block of stone and brick. At the Park Avenue entrance, bronze doors and metal ornament provide details that can be seen at street level. The hotel has also restored its historic public spaces.
