NYFE Summary

The Weir family sold flowers and wreaths to people visiting the cemetery. Their greenhouse stood opposite its main gates, where it could serve funeral parties and people tending graves. It was part of a group of florists that grew around the cemetery’s entrances.

The restored glass building now forms part of a visitor center with exhibition galleries and spaces for research, education and public programs. Its projecting bays and domed roof remain visible alongside the new building. Visitors can begin here before exploring the cemetery grounds.
