NYFE Summary

Demand for offices near the port led to a larger addition behind the first building. The expanding complex stood on made land beside the Hudson waterfront, where difficult ground conditions shaped the foundation work.

The warmer-colored front building and the taller, paler block behind it remain easy to compare from Battery Place and West Street. Arches, bands of stone and different rooflines help distinguish the two parts of the same complex.
