NYFE Summary

This was among Brooklyn’s first library branches funded by Andrew Carnegie. Its cornerstone contains a time capsule with newspapers and the library funding contract. The branch was planned for a densely populated neighborhood that needed more reading space.

Two wings spread from a central atrium, giving the plan the shape of an open book. A rounded room at the rear originally held the book stacks. The building continues to serve as a public library.
