NYFE Summary

Andrew Carnegie’s gift helped extend free library service into city neighborhoods. This branch fitted that public purpose onto a narrow street lot, stacking its reading spaces rather than spreading across a large site.

Tall arched windows bring light through the stone front. Carved panels, a cornice and a parapet give the small facade much of its detail. The entrance sits to one side of the window bays.
