Mayor Zohran Mamdani pledged Wednesday to finish rebuilding the Brooklyn corridor by the end of 2028, amNewYork reports.
The first phase covers 62nd to 43rd streets next year; work from 43rd to 20th streets is scheduled for 2028. Community input will continue before construction.
DOT plans protected cycling routes, pedestrian islands and sidewalk extensions. A two-way bike connection on 60th Street would link Fourth Avenue with the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway.
